Orthopaedic Department
Certainly the most famous department. It attracts
patients from UP and Maharashtra besides Madhya Pradesh. Dr Moss and Dr.
Victor Choudhrie both were skilled Orthopaedic surgeons, but a revolutionary
change came after Dr. Vincent Solomon returned from UK, where he had training
in Joint Replacement in the year 1978. Since then about 200 Joint Replacement
have been done. A very well staffed, with all the physio gadgets. Physiotherapy
unit was also started at the same time. The department was well supported
by Mr. R. Villar, the consultant at Addenbrook's Hospital Cambridge. He
also funded the Orthopaedic Theater. Now Arthroscopy, Illiazorov, Interlocking,
DHS are routinely done here. Cold surgeries such as Decompression of Spine
and laminectomies are quite common. All emergency traumas are also handled
here. Every year over 1500 major procedures are performed in this
department. Dr and Mrs. Padhi have also made a tremendous contribution
to this department with their services.
Of late Padhar Hospital has taken up 'Polio Projects'
with Christoeffel Blinden Mission and with the districts of Betul and Sehore.
It is a very special, 'one of its kind' project that envisages surgical
treatment and rehabilitation with calipers, shoes and crutches where necessary.
We are pleased to say that with the orthopaedic and physiotherapy team
we have treated over 500 children here and have made a difference to their
otherwise desperate lives.
Our workshop produces artificial limbs, calipers
and crutches that aids this department.
