OUTREACH ACTIVITIES
The Projects Department and Women’s Project department co-ordinates a number of outreach activities.

Educational Programmes:

Phulwadis: Education for Tribal children between 3 and 5 years of age
Happy Valley English Medium School: MP Board of Education for LKG to Std VIII
School and Rehabilitation Centre for the Visually and Mentally Challenged
Children’s Sports and Other Extracurricular Activities
Provision of uniforms and books for financially underprivileged school children

Agriculture:

Seed bank: ensures that adequate seed (wheat, gram, soyabean) is available for small farmers
Exposure Trips: Provides opportunities to see improved methods of agriculture
Agricultural training programmes
Land levelling and contour dyking to prevent topsoil loss due to heavy monsoon rains
Provision of wells under the Food for Work Programme
Instruction in water conservation and utilisation
Development of kitchen gardens
Nursery, providing fruit tree seedlings to farmers
Fruit tree plantation and cultivation: Mango, Papaya, Guava Lemon, Jackfruit and Bamboo
Education in Agricultural Sciences

Income Enhancement:

Development of income-bringing activities for women in their homes
Soya project to popularise soyabean and pure spices
Food preservation: Pickles, Jams and Jellies
Organisation of Tribal Brick-making Cooperative Society
Mushroom cultivation
Sericulture Project
Goat rearing
Poultry project
Dairy Scheme

Leadership Enhancement:

Hand Pump Repair and Maintenance training programmes for village youth
One day seminars on Government scheme for socio-economic improvements
Regular meetings for Farmer’s Club
Competitive programmes for village youth

Health and sanitation:

Provision of General health facilities for the entire target community
High energy food supplementation for children and pre- and postnatal Women
Immunisation programmes for women and children
Laparoscopic Tubectomy camps conducted in collaboration with the

Government

Investigation and assessment of health status of entire village
Special emphasis on ante and postnatal care of expectant mothers
Nutritional education classes
Fish farming in local dams to improve health by increasing dietary protein
Maintenance of safe water supplies in all target villages, by supervising the care of existing tubewells and hand pumps, and provision of additional safe water supplies where needed.
Construction of smokeless ovens in homes
Construction of Biogas plants
Construction of toilets

Rural Women’s development Programmes:
Development of potentials of rural women by creating awareness in all spheres of health, agriculture, home handicrafts, education and social rights.

Other Activities:

Training programmes for health workers, Church workers and school teachers enabling them to spread health knowledge among those with whom their work brings them into contact
Health education in the hospital wards and in the schools
Government approved centre for Housejobs of Doctors
Promotion of Ayurveda, the Indian system of Herbal Medicine

Future plans:
We plan to introduce many projects in the near future, including:

Home for the Aged
Neonatalogy Unit
